Favorite Quote or Scene: “Sometimes the point is to be sad, August. Sometimes you just have to feel it because it deserves to be felt.”

Gist: August, a jaded twenty something who is older than her years, moves to NY for the anonymity. What she finds is anything but...a found family of wonderful folks AND a crush on a dazzling & charming Jane, a 70's styled dreamboat she meets on the subway.

What you expected vs reality? I expected an easy and fun read and that's exactly what I got, plus some! There's a bit of a twist that will keep you guessing and hoping for a seemingly impossible happy ending....but what is a happy ending anyway?

Takeaways & Reflections: The found family aspect of this book is truly like a hug. It's comforting to read characters and relationships written with such warmth and care. The journey August goes on after moving to NY realistically helps her learn to trust others and allows her to grow through her unstable upbringing.

Who would you recommend this to? Anyone who wants a delightful romance with a cast of diverse and rounded characters, a bit of spice, and a dash of hope.
