Anarchy--In a Manner of Speaking by David Graeber

Bookseller: Erik
Publisher & Year Published: Diaphanes, 2020
Book Title:
Anarchy - In a Manner of Speaking
Author: David Graeber
Genre: Nonfiction, Politics, Political Ideologies
Series: No

Favorite Quote or Scene: “That's what anarchism is for me: a community of purpose without a community of definition.”

Gist: Through a series of interviews, Graeber explores modern culture and the world through the lens of anarchy and feminism. What does it mean to be an anarchist?

What you expected vs reality? I love Graeber's wit and intelligence and how he challenges my thinking. This is a bit more academic than I anticipated, though that only made me want to read more to supplement my understanding. And like any freewheeling conversation, it's a lot to digest and sometimes I wanted to follow certain ideas more.

Takeaways & Reflections: I look forward to revisiting this (probably many times) in the future, since it gave me so much food for thought about how to be a better feminist anarchist through different avenues of thought and action. It's through talking with others that we can figure out what kind of future world we want to create.

Who would you recommend this to? Anyone interested in continuing their journey into anarchist thought, as well as fans of the late, great David Graeber.
