Favorite Quote or Scene: My favorite story in the collection is #climbingnation. The story is about an overzealous fan crashing her idol's funeral who gets a little more than what she bargained for.

Gist: Lesser Known Monsters of the 21st Century is a sci-fi filled collection of stories that combine the elements of magical realism and a near future setting to reflect on our current societal 21st centuy monsters.

What you expected vs reality? I expected this collection to have most if not all of the stories following a certain theme of general sci-fi. Instead, Fu has written a beautiful menagerie of stories that merg sci-fi with a multitude of genres, from horror, to mystery, to romance.

Takeaways & Reflections: I absolutely adored this collection of short stories! Fu has included something for everyone, addressing topics such as death, sexuality, and technological consequence. Each of the stories were extremely captivating and fun to read. Readers will enjoy stories of seductive sandmen, haunted dolls, and literal bridezillas. This is definitely something that I'll be rereading!

Who would you recommend this to? I would recommend this to all short story fans. If you're looking for a quick read or a need a break from some harder reading, I would 100% recommend as well.
